Aldersbrook Baptist Church

Aldersbrook Baptist Church, located in the Aldersbrook neighbourhood of Wanstead within the London Borough of Redbridge, is a Baptist church that was established in 1906. However, its roots can be traced back to an earlier non-denominational mission in 1898 and a hall on Dover Road in 1902. The current church structure was constructed adjacent to the hall in 1909. At its zenith during the 1930s, the congregation numbered roughly 100 individuals.

The Church has been a beloved part of the community for more than a century. Despite undergoing numerous changes, including a complete rebuild after World War II, the church building has remained derelict for the past thirty years. However, a multi-million-pound project is now underway to restore the church to its former glory.

The Amalgamation

In 2020, the church members of International Praise Centre and Aldersbrook Baptist Church came together to form a new church entity called International Praise Centre, International Praise Centre Aldersbrook Baptist, or IPC London. As part of this new chapter, IPC London is embarking on an ambitious project to refurbish the historic Aldersbrook Baptist Church building. The project entails a complete overhaul of the existing building, featuring a new mezzanine floor that will divide the hall into two levels.

A Heritage Preserved

The Aldersbrook Building Project is an excellent example of how a community can come together to restore a cherished landmark. It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of IPC London and the commitment of the community to preserve its heritage for future generations. As the project progresses, it will undoubtedly attract attention from visitors and locals alike and serve as a beacon of hope for the future of the Aldersbrook community.
